Design studio based on science and blend with design, the results are impressive. The Nervous System is one of the best known that developed, combines new technology with biology that’s eons old to create its Corollaria collection.
Corollaria also includes lace-like collars and necklaces which are laser cut from rubber. the rubber pieces explore cellular structures at a larger scale. in contrast to the hyper-intricacy of the brass pieces, the rubber necklaces and bracelets are large scale jewelry that blankets the body with bold organic motifs. the collection includes a series of generative necklaces called the ‘varallaria’ necklace where each piece is one of a kind, emerging from a new shape and environment.
The corollaria line is available to purchase from the nervous system shop.
Nervous System combines scientific research, computer graphics, mathematics, and digital fabrication to explore a new paradigm of product design and manufacture. Instead of designing objects, we craft computational systems that result in a myriad of distinct creations.
Inspired by biology, Corollaria used an anisotropic centroidal Voronoi algorithm to generate structures that mimics cells responding to their environment. A complex creation using the density and direction from the algorithm are then etched into brass sheets and shaped using a hydraulic press.
