Barocco Rococo * by Campana

.

This very tradicional and culture centered work of Fernando and Humberto Campana is a homage of their home country Brazil.
Daring, the word I would choose to define their creative practice, the work the do is somewhere near the edge of ‘kitsch’ with a touch of ‘regionalism’, they materials, styles and forms that ressonate in the work are to the arte povera movement, while emanating the essence of hard core industrial design manufacturing. their ‘barocco rococó’ is a series of 11 furniture prototypes composed of lamps, chandeliers, tables and seating which are assemblages of elements influenced and derived from the sculpture produced in the baroque and rococo periods. a sense of luxury and craftsmanship is conveyed through the detailed filigree work
which supports each piece of this collection, the main decorative elements of each motif having been cast from gilt bronze portraying figures and imagery reminiscent of the iconographic drawings of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The exuberant gothic style has become intrinsic to the brothers’ works, which have been embraced across the world for their originality. Their creations reveal certain aspects of their home country, be it a critique or a celebration within the themes of cultural diversity or financial instability. Collaborating with some of the industry’s biggest names, like the Italian manufacturers Alessi and Edra, which have succeeded in bringing the brothers’ drawings to life and in just a few years, the Campanas have become the founding fathers of Brazilian design on an international level.
