Michael Murphy is a sculptor living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Murphy’s work ranges from intimate gallery pieces to large outdoor public installations. To date he is the highest paid cover artist for Time Magazine. He has exhibited widely and created numerous site specific installations throughout. He has four permanent public outdoor works in the city of Cleveland and other privately held collections in Munich, London, Zurich, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington DC, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Mexico.
Michael Murphy created the installation ‘Gun Country’ as a graphic illusion rendered with suspended toy guns. Standing in front of the piece, it forms a map of the United States, as you walk around it, the shape disappears. The artist aims to stimulate a conversation about guns and gun related issues in the United States.
